Globe Valves

Industrial globe valves for throttling, flow regulation, and isolation, standard pattern, angle pattern, and Y-pattern designs in carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials. Class 150 through 2500.

Overview

Globe valves are the valve of choice for throttling and flow regulation, their disc-to-seat geometry provides precise flow control across the full travel range. AQ Process Systems sources and exports globe valves in standard, angle, and Y-pattern configurations for steam, process, and utility applications.

We offer cast and forged globe valves in sizes from 1/2" to 24" and pressure classes from 150 to 2500. Trim materials range from standard 13Cr to Stellite-hardfaced seats and discs for severe service, erosion, high temperature, and high-pressure-drop applications.

For steam service, our globe valves are available with integral seat (body-seated) or renewable seat ring designs, with options for Stellite hardfacing, extended bonnet for high temperature, and bellows seal for zero-emission requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Globe Valves

What is the difference between a globe valve and a gate valve?

+

Globe valves have a disc that moves perpendicular to the flow path, creating good throttling control but higher pressure drop. Gate valves have a wedge that slides across the flow path, providing full-bore flow with minimal pressure drop but poor throttling ability. Use globe valves for flow control and throttling; gate valves for on/off isolation.

What globe valve patterns do you supply?

+

We supply standard (T-pattern), angle (L-pattern), and Y-pattern (oblique) globe valves. Standard pattern is most common. Angle pattern eliminates a piping elbow and is self-draining. Y-pattern offers the lowest pressure drop of the three while maintaining throttling capability.

Do you supply globe valves with Stellite-hardfaced trim?

+

Yes. Stellite 6 hardfacing on disc and seat faces is standard for high-temperature steam service, erosive media, and high-pressure-drop applications. We also offer Stellite 21 for higher-temperature corrosion resistance. Hardfacing extends trim life by 3-10x compared to standard 13Cr trim.

Can you supply bellows seal globe valves?

+

Yes. Bellows-sealed globe valves use a formed metallic bellows instead of (or in addition to) conventional packing to seal the stem. This provides zero fugitive emissions, critical for toxic, radioactive, steam, and environmentally sensitive applications. Available in sizes 1/2" to 12", Class 150-600.

What is a needle valve and when should I use one?

+

A needle valve is a small-bore globe valve with a tapered (needle-shaped) plug providing very fine flow control. Use needle valves for instrument root connections, gauge isolations, sampling points, and any application requiring precise low-flow regulation. Available in 1/4" to 2", up to Class 6000.
